The Embassy of Hungary in Tirana held its national day reception on October 23.
It was a great honor to welcome at the event the Minister of State for Local Government Arbjan Mazniku, and Deputy Foreign Minister Endrit Yzeiraj, representing the Albanian government. In addition to the members of the diplomatic corps, as well as the key actors of the Albanian economic and cultural life, Prince Leka, the grandson of Albanian King Zogu I and Queen Geraldine Apponyi, was also present.
In her speech, Ambassador Martina Kasnyik praised the century-old relations between the two nations, highlighting its current events, such as the investments of the OTP Bank, 4iG and WizzAir in Albania, as well as the new milestone of the Albanian integration process achieved under the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
During the reception, Albanian-Hungarian pianist Almira Emiri has been awarded with the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit. The decoration was awarded by the President of the Republic Dr. Tamás Sulyok for Her defining and shaping role in Albanian-Hungarian cultural relations.
As a tribute to the historical Hungarian-Albanian relations, the glass sculpture of the Albanian national hero Skanderbeg (Gjergj Kastrioti) made by the Hungarian artist Yvette Botz, was exhibited at the reception.
